The Darkness Has Been EmbalmedThe darkness has been embalmed,  saved for the dilation of pupils.  Water drops echo the void of ill  illumination, the mossy slick stone floor  is presumably protecting permafrost,  and only a single occupied chair prevents this room  from becoming a black hole.   
A whimpering can be heard--like howling  creatures of the night--only muffled  by stitched lips: the victim  of an unperceived reality, a truth only  viewed cinematically in all its maniacal  possibilities.

GremlinsBloody fangs  and bloody claws  with blood red eyes  and nothing flawed.   
A bone chilling hiss  
a menacing growl  white flashing fangs  and a blood curling howl

The PaintingMy mother bought a painting from a nearby thrift shop a week before the accident, but I didn’t connect the two events until seven months afterwards, when the figure appeared. She began as a sketch next to the garden fountain, hectic red lilies painted behind the outline of my mother’s back. He put his hand on the doorknob. He sighed. This was the fourth time and already he was tired of it. He turned the knob and opened the door.  
"TRICK-OR-TREAT!!"  The kids, every year, every All Hallows, they always came to his house, no matter how he tried to get them to go away. This year he had given up, usually he never even thought of giving out the candy, this year he ordered some in and handed it out. It was a little disconcerting for him at first, he had had to break into the library to read up on what went on on All Hallows Eve.

DresserOf all the objects in the world, that shabby looking old dresser was one of the few things I never expected to look so malicious and dangerous. Yet there it stood, as if it had become a deviously patient monster, just waiting my aproach, intent on devouring me the second I did so. And though I sensed the trap deep within me, my stomach curling and turmoiling in response to the deepest and simplest survival instincts I have, curiosity still paced back and forth in my mind, brewing a ever growing wish to end all that pondering and wondering of the past few months over what lay behind the dressers smelly wooden doors.

The Perfect Child      The child was but 13 and a lonely one at that, he spent his days either writing or drawing. He would wonder off in his mind and start thinking of terrible things. He drew his dreams, and wrote his thoughts but still he felt like he had not fully expressed himself. Friends were of unimportance to him, he had is genuine genius to deal with. The rain leaves patches of cold on my head, cold liquid running down the back of my neck, leaving me struggling not to flinch. He’s stood in front of me, the bastard, just standing and staring, as if I want anything to do with him. Not talking. I pass by. Moment’s gone. A sigh of relief escapes me as I turn the key in the lock to the apartment building. An odd mixture of hospital, piss, and swimming pool assaults my nostrils as I begin the long ascent to my room.
