Keeping the FaithDear Santa,   
Am I crazy for writing this? Am I exceedingly optimistic? Or hopeful? Or desperate? Or am I just naïve?   
I don't know. But I know I'm lonely.   
All the other soldiers in my tent, right now they're listening to mortar fire and writing letters home to their wives or husbands, girlfriends or boyfriends, or sons, or daughters, or mothers, fathers and friends.  
 
And I'm writing to you.   
Or maybe I'm just writing this to myself. As a ruse. A feint. A cover. To make it seem to the others that I do in fact have someone back home. Someone who loves me. Someone who cares for m Keeping the Faith

Charlie the Christmas CatIt all started with a banana.   
No, wait.  That’s not quite right.   
It all started with Paris.   
I’ve always wanted to write a story that started with Paris.  The Louvre.  The Seine.  Notre Dame.  Paree.   
Ok.  Let me just clarify that I’m not in Paris.  My friend Myra is.  For Christmas.  And today is the first day that I’m going to check on her cat, Boots.  Boots Pierre.  I don’t know if he is aware of his full moniker.  Right now his only interest is in Charlie the Christmas Cat

FreezingI’ve heard it said that freezing to death is not actually a bad way to die.  Well, I think I’ve been slowly freezing to death every winter for the past ten years, and it’s not a pleasant way to die either.  I wonder how anyone came to that conclusion, since nobody who’s been through the whole process is really in a condition to speak about it.  I think it’s maybe just supposed to be the late stages of it that aren’t bad, and maybe I haven’t been that far, but it still seems to me that if it’s bad for a while it doesn’t really matter if it’s not that bad right at t Freezing

Dear Santa,   
So it’s finally December,  And I really need to say...  I’ve been waiting to write this,  Since the middle of May.   
Mommy’s sick again,  There’s blood in her cough.  A man came the other day,  He shut our electricity off.   
And Daddy’s still not back,  Will he be here this year?  Last night when I asked,  Mommy broke down in tears.

A Damaged AdultDear Santa,   
I never believed in you, you know.  I suppose you would know since you listen and look into everyone’s homes kind of like that guy from the Dr. Seuss Sleep Book.  If you did exist I wonder if you’d skimp on my presents over my unbelief.  It would hardly seem fair since my mom never even tried to have me believe in you.  The only person who ever did was the nice old lady who lived down the road from my grandmother and would send presents over on Christmas that said they were from Santa Claus.

It’s been a hell of a long time, twelve years since you last received my letters. Instead of setting cookies and milk out for you, and celery for your reindeers, I started looking into cupboards.  
 
My mother carried him, a gift at first and then a burden what with the adjusted angle of sleeping, sitting, sighing. She remembered oddly, her love for poetry, “This is the way the world ends, not with a bang but a whimper,” and gave birth to a sleek silent baby, who turned blue, his breath only being pushed into him by a flock of medics. Foreman Joe DeLongchamp lit his pipe and closed the door to the bunkhouse behind him.  He could still hear the other jacks laughing and spinning yarns over a few games of cards.  Some were sewing shirts or socks, some were sharpening saws or axes, all of them grateful for an extra day off tomorrow, Christmas day.

I helped my mommy decorate  --- Santa, she nearly cried.  I baked her some treats, a tray full of sweets,

 I know you watch over me all year and already know how good I have been, but I felt I might as well point out some of my deeds these past twelve months. I mean, you can’t have seen everything, right?

Dear Santa ...Dear Santa,  
 
Hello! It's been a while since i wrote my last letter. Well, I'm not sure if you remember me, I'm that girl named Gaby from Guatemala, you know. That little girl who used to ask you for dolls and little houses for them. I missed those days.  
 
Throughout these years, that little girl died and a new lady came to life. So i guess no more toys for me! My list, i guess it's a bit odd you know. Because every children asks for toys and such, and the only toy i would like to ask for is a plush doll from my favorite show, Danny Phantom!

How are you? How is Mrs. Claus? I hope that everyone is doing very well up at the North Pole. My mommy said that it is time for me to write a letter to you to tell you what I would like for Christmas since I have been very good this year. And now mommy gives me the crayon to write with, so here we go...   
In case you did not kno yet, I have a new sissy this year and she wood WEAWY like a new toy to play witf. Somthin flashy and lights up and dwives mommy and daddy bananas. The Getaway HouseThe landscape surrounding my late grandmother’s cottage was beautiful in the winter.  There was pure, un-trodden snow as far as the eye could see, and at intervals a thin and naked tree shivering in the cruel December air.  No pylons, no telegraph wires… just the snow, the trees and the cottage.

“Who is this?” the boy asked, wondering who could be knocking at the door so late in the night.   
“It’s Santa! Santa Claus! I’m here to deliver the presents.”

I saw you in the shopping mall  sitting in your chair.  Waiting for all the children  
to find you there.   
I couldn't help but notice  a little boy walk past.  His tear filled eyes  
covered by a dirty hat   
I watched in amazement  
as he crawled up on your lap.  You asked him what he wanted  he said "just a nap."   
His little body  was so worn out,  you let him lay there  he was all tuckered out.

Dear Santa...Dear Santa,   
How are you kind sir? I do hope that the elves are not bugging you too much this year and that the reindeer are flying in a straight line too this year. We all remember how last year, someone...*coughs**...Rudolph..* ended up drinking all of the eggnog which was spiked by an elf and ended up flying backwards on Christmas Eve. I'm sure you gave him a stern warning and told him to behave or else.  
 
Going on... I have been really good this year, Santa. There really isn't any way for me to get into trouble. I've gone to the gym to try to lose some weight. I've tried looking for a new place to work, to no avail Dear Santa...
