"Sunrise, shine down a little love
On the world today
Make a morning so sweet
That it'll have to chase my blues away
Oh, the moon and stars have gone
And I can see the light of dawn
Like a golden smile
Brightening up the brand new day

Sunrise, come wrap me in the warmth
Of your crimson sky
I spent a long time believin'
In a dream that had passed me by
But the moon and stars have gone
And I can see the light of dawn
Like a golden smile
Brightening up the morning sky"

sunrise lyrics

This shot was taken on Oktober, 13, 2004.
It is a path in the botanical gardens near my house. There was the first snow in the year and the beginning of Russian winter!

Another version of the photo (wide view) you can see here: "Bloody Autumn (wide view)"

Also you can check out two other photos of the same alley:
"Mellow Autumn" was taken a year after this one (on Oktober, 14, 2005);
"Frosty Silence" was made in winter.
It's fantastic difference between these three photos! Enjoy :D

PRINT AVAILABLE HERE: Underneath the Veil

You know what you've got when you know what you've given to the silence...
when there's nowhere else to go but underneath the veil...

… and this was a treat. It was just one of these surprises that awaits you just around the corner when your mind is set to something else, some other destination, some other aim. Take it metaphorically or literally but don’t tell me it has never happened to you before.

April 15, the second morning of our Easter vacation and we were heading for one of *KirlianCamera’s favorite bridges. We were already behind schedule and anxious to get there before the sun was too high, lifting the mist we hoped it’d be there and washing everything out when suddenly, just around a corner, this view unfolded in front of us. Now, being the gentleman that he is, Kozy never forgets to point out every once in a while that if I happen to see anything that I want to stop and shoot I shouldn’t hesitate (I have serious doubts if that relates to him being a gentleman or him being afraid of the non-stop whining that could follow, but anyway...) so I decided to make full use of this advantage. I’m under the impression that the car was already braking even before I uttered “Look!” and anyway I’m not sure if that “look” made much sense uttered with my mouth hanging wide open.

We shot out of the car and tried to set our cameras up as fast as we could. Well, “fast” is a word that I generally don’t like. I am slow. You can translate this anyway you want to and still not be very far from the truth but that is absolutely true when it comes to photography. I like to be in a place well ahead of the right time, explore, try different exposures, fool around without the pressure of “shoot now or forever lose the light”. This was not the case there and I only had time for 2 exposures before my companion, being the gentleman that he is, told me very politely to move my @&$# cause we were already late!

I tried to make a point by sulking the rest of the way, mumbling that I should have stayed there but even then I knew he was right (damn, he always is)… A few minutes later the sun would be too high, completely lifting the thin veil of mist and all the magic would go with it.

A couple of hours later, on our way back, he pointed at this spot to me again and I just couldn’t recognize it. It looked so plain and uninteresting…

Hope you enjoy your visit here!

PS This one is dedicated to =AndyMumford, a great photographer, a great source of inspiration and a great example all of this time :thanks:

**update**
Thanks all for the comments. :) I only wish the photo was able to express the sheer magnitude of these lightning strikes. This pic was taken more than 20 miles away from the storm...I see lightning here over 90 days a year, but this storm had the largest strikes i've ever seen--starting from several miles up in the atmosphere.

A beautiful storm near lake okeechobee, Florida

I got several photos of this storm and i will post one or two more soon to show the storm's progress

and here is a pic taken about 2 min after this one, it was a hard choice which one to feature first
