Some say they never were,
And were birthed from imagination.
The same say that fantasy
Is the realm of children and the insane.
To believe in the magical,
the mythical,
And the fantastic
Is to be as a child or a madman.
I am neither and I believe in dragons.
The majestic Lords of skie
Born of fire.
In an averie of flames
The eggs lie
Warmed by mothers breath.
Emerging weak and hungry,
Parchment wings
Unfurl for the first time.
Infant sings
For mothers attention.
Noble, proud and powerful
Lords of the skie
Reach the very stars with
A thermal sigh
And one thunderous wingbeat.
Upon the winds they soar

DragonsDragons still exist.Dragons8 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
They're still out there. They hide from us. They don't really need to, as we live too fast to notice them. But they still hide from us, just to make sure.
You see, they like observing us. We interest them unendingly. They love simply hovering over an open mall, or following someone at a distance for a short while. At night, they return to their clan home and tell the other dragons what they have seen. Gossip, if you will. If you're interesting enough to them you might have a whole family silently watching you.
If a dragon likes you, it will protect you from physical harm- a big jump to the sidewalk from the middle of a

Or so many believe-
They fill fairytales,
Novels,
And haunts the past.
It's fierce eyes,
Gazing upon you,
staring into your being-
It's fiery breath,
The stench of lost souls-
Dried blood upon its talons,
A victim of the past-
The dragon's burning heart,
Driving his wings-
To spread his will-
To soar through the sky,
claiming it as his own-
The creatures driven,
By they're own being.

DragonsThe dragons just kept getting cuter.Dragons9 months ago in Stories & Vignettes More Like This
I'd meant them to be scary, with snakelike heads and pearly fangs, but as my fingers gained more practice the dragons they shaped became younger and more innocent, their wings tiny and their eyes wide. Dull spikes lined their heads and tails, not yet sharpened by age. They lay on their bellies or sat up and watched with good-natured curiosity. They were friendly. They were sweet.
They were flawed, and there were a lot of them. I experimented with color and pose, sculpting the way others would turn a stress ball. Every morning I baked the newcomers in my oven, and within a week my desk was overrun. Rows o

Where did they go?
Questions to which answers,
No one seems to know.
Beautiful and gentle,
As much as a flower.
They soon disappeared,
Due to man's lust for power.
Only those now
As rare as sages.
Can truely find a dragon
In these modern ages.
Once these creatures
Where the protectors of us all.
Sheltering great civilizations
Until they disappeared, leaving them to fall.
Everyone I know
Is a dragon you see.
I look out for you,
You look out for me.
Dragons will be with us
Through the reaches of time.
In fact there's one sitting here,
Teaching me this rhyme.

O! how they are pretty
but their teeth are sharp
Poto has one as a pet

the timbers are creaking

His skin was white, and his body was weak
But what he lacked in strength and body mass
He made up for in knowledge of Wee Jas.
He warned the others about her powers
His truthful teaching went on for hours.
After he was done, the Pardoner said,
"You and I are brothers, my good friend!"
"Dear sir, are you accusing me of lies?
I swear to Vecna my words have no ties
They are free and true, Nerull strike me down.
You say we are brothers? To that I frown."
There is no loyal a man than the geek.
Just ask the elves, orcs, or dwarves: they'll shriek
And talk of his goodness and vast wisdom

Silver scales flashed in the sunlight at the beast bellowed, and kicked off, beating up clouds of dust as it rose high into the skies. Midnight black shone dully as the larger circles higher, malevolent red-yellow eyes fixed on the smaller, slimmer beast far below, rising steadily from the ruined village. The Silver roared, gold eyes narrowing as it opened its mouth, a blast of fire leaving its gaping jaws, red flashing through the silver scales. The Black didn't avoid the blast, letting the red orange fire wash over its scales, melting them, healing as the Black dropped its lower jaw in a dragon's

I have the confidence to love my body,
But this is dream-shown in the way I flaunt it
And in the way They want it
As They want others. I am
Not the stunted one, second-best with the speech impediment.
I do not compete endlessly with those
Of the bee-stung lips, fragile bones sliding
Smoothly under untainted skin. My dragons and I,
We soar through clouds made of the souls lost
To the soul-less. Our sun is hidden beyond
The mountains in the distance. Those tall towers
With words carved into them,
Words I cannot read from this distance. We

The Red Dragon
[One of the most ferocious of all beasts, the red Dragon has slain many hunters who have crossed its path hoping to return with the prize of a dragons egg]
A fearsome, fire-spewing beast, the red dragon, most likely to be found in the West, is often compared to the Devil himself. Indeed, this beast possesses all the evil cunning of the dark one and is gifted with overwhelming strength and the ability to lay waste to its enemies - and whole landscapes - with its fiery discharge.

Where Be Dragons?
'Here Be Dragons'
The old maps do proclaim,
Terra Incognita
Places beyond name.
Far over teeming, turbulent, ocean swells
Be lands of magic and mystic fable
Where all of dream's strange bestiary dwells
And where may exist the supernatural.
And from thence come glorious, fabulous tales
Sagas of sorcery and great, sweeping quests,
Legends of treasures, artefacts of vast power
Discovered in hidden, death-guarded, chests.
There are shining places of a beauty beyond dreams
And harsh regions of danger, nightmarish and cursed.
Ancient ruins cast shadows, as shining cities stand tall,
And knights may do battle as th

After all these years of hundreds of people searching, working, chasing, probing, trying to pin down the elusive Loch Ness 'monster' - after all her years of work, studying and scraping by and manuveuring with difficulty through her scanty network until she was part of the latest team sent searching for it - all of that ended like this?
It washed up on the shore?
Dead?
She left most of the crowd behind

We would cower in holes like tiny rats whilst our parents acted strong
The Dragon would burn our homes away and all would turn to dust and ash

It used to be a time of darkness, where a man would live in constant
