Strange Circus'Ladies and gentlemen...'

The ringmaster stands at the centre of a circle made of candy canes arranged like a centrifuge around him. His audience is one broken whistle - broken in the way that it can only make low pitches, a necklace without its pendant, and forget-me-nots that have been forgotten weeks before. A good, couple decades ago...

In a small town, there lived an equally small family, by the name Callaghan. The Callaghan family was famous in their town for being the richest family for miles around. Even though everyone knew about the Callaghan’s', no one knew how they came upon their riches.

The Callaghan family had only 6 people at the time. There was, Mister Callaghan himself, his wife, and both of his parents. His eldest child was a son, and his youngest, a daughter.

The Circus We went every year, or every other year – whenever it came to town. I don't remember any of it from the beginning. I know all the stories well enough, though. Oh, the stories.

The first year I was four, and I was in love with tigers. At the end of the show, you somehow convinced the guy to let me go up to it. He licked my hand, like a cat. You'd never have guessed it was a killer of the jungle. I got to pet him, and talked about it for years.
