The reporters buzzed towards us as we got ready to board our plane to India. For a laugh, Ringo wore a seamen's cap and tipped it at the air hostesses, all of which giggled flirtatiously. Maureen pretended to ignore them; Eleanor protectively clutched my hand, leading me away from the seductresses. We went to talk to a flustered reporter who perked up once we approached him. "Mr McCartney and Miss Sutton, is it true that you got married during your trip to France last year?" The reporter spoke in a broad Northern Irish accent.
Eleanor shook her head. "It was just a short trip with our friend Mal Evans. We often do this."
"But are you planning to get married at some point?" questioned the reporter. I laughed.
"Well, of course we'll get married at one point, just not today," I said. Eleanor made her excuses and went to talk to Maureen, so I carried on with the reporter. "But you never know!"
