So I always get a lot of questions asking how I have soo many watchers or so many faves or so many comments or so many whatever else! I have been on this site for about 6years or so now, and during that time i have evolved as an artist, and I have also changed as a person.
People on here always tell me how "jealous" they are of me, which I dont see at all. I am only here to draw art and improve myself. I really am not here for the attention, even though I thoroughly appreciate it (dont get me wrong!)
Every person has something their good at, better than someone else. Even if you haven't found it yet there is something that YOU are good at believe me!
It has taken me a long time to get my "art" to what it is today. Am I 100% happy with it? NO. But will I continue trying and improving in the hope that one day I will reach my goals.
So should you. So Maybe this will help you get more noticed on here I dunno, but I guess continue reading if you do! One thing I preach is practice makes perfect, so if you take anything away from that now, let it be that <3

there are no secrets to success

1. Time.
This is a huge factor. Sure, some lucky people go from nothing, to over night sensations in two sections flat. Majority is you wont though.Think about how big this site is alone. Now imagine we're all fishies swimming in the big blue.. Do you realize how big that is! And how many of "us" are in it.. Its HUGE. You need to take the time to practice, get your name out and make your work appealing to others. This takes time, and a lot of it.  Its okay to be unknown, dont put yourself down.

2. Practice
This is honestly the most important thing in my eyes. If you're not willing to put the work in to better your self and your artwork then why should people do the same? You need to define yourself as an artist, by whatever that means to you. If you dont like something about your work, then WORK ON IT. No one will help you better than yourself. Read a billion tutorials if you have to. Trace every pic on google images if thats what helps you. But remember to practice!!! Its the only way you can help yourself and your art. Do everything you can to better yourself if thats what you feel like you need to do! Another thing I don't get is when people complain about not getting help with their work or improving when dA literally has 100's of tutorials on every subject under the sun. We artists didn't make them for the heck of it, we did it to HELP YOU.
You have to take the initiative when it comes to art and push yourself to beyond what you do. It doesn't take long to figure out anatomy/shading/coloring/lines/backgrounds/facials/ect. Even if you do it in small sections. Take your time, art is about artistic expressionism. The only person who is going to be 100% there for you is YOU!
Take control of YOUR art. Nobody is going to be their holding your hand, if you dont like something work on it until you do. You'll only be as good as you want yourself to be.
You can't expect to drive a car for the first time and get your lisence, so why do you expect to be davinci when you've only just started drawing.
Sure it easier just to draw the same old dogs, but why don't you push yourself beyond all that? Try some landscape, a dinosaur, a building WHATEVER. If you want people to take your art seriously (i.e job wise) than fluffly dogs won't impress them too much. And if you get into the habit of drawing the same old thing all the time never extending your style or your techniques then how will you ever improve?


3. Pride
Take pride in your work, If you dont like it, then chances are people wont either. I always have people commenting to me saying "OHMYGAWD my art sucklssss i hate it blah cry cry whinge". If you dont stand up for something you created and worked on then whats the point of even doing it? If you are one of those people who constantly whinge about their work and do nothing about it then i honestly have no respect as an artist for you. You can only help yourself and unless you have the motivation to improve and better yourself and your work then nothing will change. Dont wait for a sign, make a change today. Who cares if your art sucks, you made it! thats a big deal. love your work because YOU did it.

4. Get your work out there!
This is probably the easiest thing to do. and the most simple. and will probably work the best. Want people to notice you and your art? then get it out there however it may be.
People not commissioning you? then offer free commissions. People will see you as kind and generous. Have LOADS of giveaways. Give stuff away for free. Does it really matter that your not making and money? no. why? because you'll be bring in attention to you and your work and you will always be creating a reputation for you and your work.
The more people that get to your work, the better.  Do whatever you can to get people to your page and to your work. Create the reputation you want. dont be the whingey person who complains about not getting commissions.  If you are serious about getting more views/watchers than this will help you.
Also ask people what /they/ think you should be charging for your work. Probably best to stay clear of friends be cause lets face it they will say anything nice. Maybe ask an idol of yours or someone who faves your art a lot. Dont over price or under price though. Base things on how much time/effort you put into each piece. Start of cheap and as you get more attention raise them slowly until you are happy with the pricing.
You should take pride in your work... it is your own! Who cares if it is crappy.. it is your artwork so other peoples shitty opinion shouldn't matter. Of course you will care, but at the end of the day you should stand by what you make in thick or thin. If someone doesnt life your work, then ask them WHY, try to get crits from people. try to get help from people. whats the worst that could happen?
Joining groups, giving people feedback, creating fanart and gifts are all ways of increasing your exposure to others. It takes time and effort to develop rapport, so just keep at it.


5. Join a lot groups and submit your work.
pretty self explanatory.. like really if you are not in any groups then join some. there are thousands, with thousands or members. and thousand of opportunities.. i guess hahaha!

6. Give feedback, get feedback.
Again pretty self explanatory, but if you start commenting around on deviations you like in a positive and constructive manner, then people will do the same for you. What goes around comes back around, remember that!


7. ask for help!!!!!!!
if you;re stuck, then ask for help!!!
Im always here to help people out. I am happy to give advice or redline or give your constructive crit so don't ever be afraid to approach me. Or another artist if you so please. We are all the same and I can guarantee that most of the time they'd be willing to help you out a bit if you were to ask them nicely.


8. dont worry, be happy
If you always see this place and your work in a negative way then guess what people will do the same too. Seriously dont worry, just be happy. Hakuna Matta. Art is FUN! goof around and relax, your work doesnt need to be perfect 100% of the time. if you approach things with love and a positive energy then you will feel better about your self and your work!
