Finally, contest time! Arrr…..I've been wanting to held a contest since….last year….haha…I was too lazy to write a journal of the contest….*sob*. Okay, now let's get to the point.

Contest Requirements
_{All contest entry must be at least knee up. They must be new artwork, full illustration with full background, coloured.
Only 1 entry per person. You're not allowed to do collaboration with other artist/commission them to draw the entry. The artwork must be your own artwork. Strictly no tracing/stealing arts. You'll be disqualified and black listed if you do that.
You don't have to inform me if you want to enter. If you enter, submit the completed entry to your DA and send me a note with the link of your entry. In your artist comment, please state that it's for 's OC contest and post a link to my contest journal. If you failed to do that, sorry, your entry will not be accepted.
You MUST draw my OC, Xuan Long and Qi Rui in ADULT/TEENAGE version. Draw them in any scene. In battle, leisure, festival etc. Keep in mind that they are from China background. Their clothes MUST be in ancient Chinese outfit. No modern or other era's clothing, just Chinese ancient clothing.

You can draw them in their original outfit from my reference, but I prefer you to design for them. Design outfit for them will have more possibility in winning the contest.
Keep in mind that Xuan Long's theme colour will be black & dark blue, Qi Rui's theme colour will be white and light blue.
Do not include other characters(your OCs, my other OCs, fan characters…etc) in the drawing. But dragons are allowed to be drawn as background.
Your drawing must be at least 2480x3507 pixel, 300 dpi. The drawing that you submit in DA must be big enough for me to see the details. (1024 pixel)
Please do not change their relationship, personality, stories. A very important thing that I must emphasize, They are not couple, they are good friends

Who are the judges and How they judge
_{I'm the only judge here, coz no one knows my OCs better than I do. So how do I judge? I'll sum up everything into 4 parts:
a) Creativity – your creative ideas in designs of clothes/background given to the drawings and imaginative composition of the characters.
b) Skill – Your drawing skill and the details you put in
c) Essence – Depends on how well you capture the characters' personality and their relationship. I hope you get the feeling between them the same as I do.
d) Love – Your love towards my babies~~~hurrrr..}

Yesterday I got spammed to hell with messages linking to different variants of this image:

They can have slightly different graphics or contain different links but the message is always basically the same - go to this page and you'll receive 20 000

.

I have to ask the question - how dim do you have to be to fall for it?
Ok let's see - we have an image hosted on a profile that is 1 day old and asks you to visit a website with a strange url with a promise of a financial reward on an another website. How do you even imagine that would work? And now, of course, people start crying that their computers got infected with malware. Which is great - every genius who fell for this obvious phishing scam deserved it. I hope your shitty computer burns and you along with it.

I know this is a no-duh for 90% of people reading it but for the sake of the rest lets revise what we all should know about online phishig. And before you go all:

No, no you can't.

Be very careful about not replying to any such spam mails that ask you to confirm or update any information about your account.
Do not follow any links that come with the spam mails, which will lead you to websites that ask for conformation of your account information.
Never copy an unknown link from these kinds of spam mails and paste them on your web browsers. These links are made to look very humble by the phishers but they will actually land you to some scam and fraud sites.
Be careful about opening or saving any document or attachment that come with spam mails. Do not trust these kinds of emails even if they appear to be sent by some authorized entity.
Never ever send your confidential information about your account in an email.
It is better to be protected from these scams by using firewall, anti-spyware and anti-virus software. Make sure to update this software regularly for security of your pc.
Do not respond to those scam mails, which even seem to offer sound business or ask you to avail a refund. The fraudsters often send you phone numbers so that you call them up for business purpose. They use Voice over Internet Protocol technology. With this technology, their calls can never be traced.

You can help other Internet users by spreading the word about "phishing" scams.

Do forward the spam mails to spam@uce.gov.
Also send a copy of the mail to the bank or credit card company whose name is impersonated in the email.
File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission that you have fallen prey to the phish net. If you fall a victim to phishing then there are high chances that you will also be a victim of ID theft.
You can also send email to the Anti-Phishing Working Group to reportphishing@antiphishing.org. This organization helps to fight further phishing scams.

Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art Styles

^{This isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*

I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!

Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)
Draw a face a certain way though the eyes different. Play with hair styles, fashion, curves and design. Hands that are blocky to thin and pencil like. Or all of the above????

Heck, all I'm saying is, don't feel restricted! Play with styles to find yourself and learn how to make your art distinctive! Don't feel pressured about being UNIQUE AND DISTINCTIVE RIGHT AWAY.
Never be afraid to push out your comfort zone. (you'll find it's a lot of fun! at least from my experience!)

With that said, I myself am trying new things. I'm not exactly FOND of my style, especially what it used to be. So I try new things all the time! (Or attempt to)
Whats the most encouraging to me it reading my favourite artists' comics and seeing how over the years their art changes and they improve! From something simple to something detailed and expressive!

So my style will change, don't be startled by that. But don't keep yourself from moving forward! Be open minded and VENTURE FORTH BRAVE ARTISTS.

Eurovision night

Got myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

Nintendo STEALS Money!

Since this has been going around lately, I should probably give my two cents. Basically what it amounts to is that Nintendo has filed Content ID info of their games with YouTube. What this means is that if you upload gameplay video of a Nintendo game, YouTube will automatically monetize that video, put ads on it, a link to where to buy the game, and take the money generated from that video and give it directly to Nintendo. People who do "let's play" videos are, naturally, pissed off because they want to be earning money off their videos, so they're calling Nintendo "thieves" for doing this.

I can see both sides to the story. I can see Nintendo as a corporation wanting to exercise control over their properties. On the other hand, "let's play" videos can often help new gamers find games they otherwise wouldn't have tried.

But here's the thing: Nintendo isn't the first company do this. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft do it already. YouTube has also had a long history of having music videos and TV shows Contend ID matched to prevent users from profiting by uploading content that isn't theirs. In other words: Content ID matching isn't anything new, it's just the news that Nintendo is throwing their hats into the ring as well.

That's the bigger problem in my books. This is something ALL corporations are going to try and do eventually. I'd be surprised if, by the end of this year, pretty much every video game corporation out there hasn't filed for Content ID matching through YouTube. To me it seems like the next easy way for big corporations to earn "free" money.

But just so you know, YouTube states in their terms and conditions the following:
"You may not be able to monetize videos which use any of the following without the explicit permission of the person who created or produced all material: Including Video game or software visuals"
So by YouTube's own standards, "Let's play" videos are against the rules ANYWAY.

Again, I see both sides. I personally feel that this is a big mistake on Nintendo's part, but I also can't really fault them for trying. They're not taking the videos down. They aren't going to flag your account. And they're only targeting videos of a "certain length." So this likely won't affect smaller users who upload a quick "Let's Play" here or there, but more likely to affect the bigger YouTuber's who have hour long videos showing every detail of their games.

So, no, Nintendo is not "stealing" your money away. Chances are you won't even be affected by this even if you upload Nintendo related content. But it's still a problem and Nintendo is just one of the first to do this. More will come. And this is how things will evolve.

On TES elves

Alright can I just say how much I love the elves in the Elder Scrolls

J.R.R. Tolkien popularized elves as these otherworldly, divinely beautiful creatures which sorta established the standard for the race in all modern fantasy that came after. They're nearly immortal, distant, and to me, plain boring. Then around comes Morrowind, the game that really made me fall in love with TES, its world and its lore!! The elves of TES have a long history, and each subrace has their own cultural identity. The elves no longer just sit in their ~~Crystal~~ ivory towers (well I guess some of them do) and sing to their trees or whatever - they're flawed, complicated PEOPLE, and extremely proud of who they are. The haughty Altmer, the hostile Dunmer from the Ashlands, the cannibalistic Bosmer, the late Dwemer and their scientific achievements…. when was the last time any elves modeled after Tolkien's work had this much cultural diversity??

I love the fact that Bethesda actually created some of the most interesting, unusual cultures in the series for them. I love reading about them. I love their history. I love their aesthetics, which are exotic and uniquely beautiful. Just the amount of THOUGHT that has gone into creating the finer details of their cultures is incredible to me and has inspired me for the past decade.
