Complex Creations: Tales of Mythos and Magic Contest.</u>

Hello, and welcome to the first official contest held by ! I'm very excited to be holding this, ee~!
First and foremost, I'd like to introduce the other people involved in this contest: and will be my other judges for the entries, and , , , , , , , , and will be providing the fabulous list of prizes (as well as prizes provided by me) below! If you can spread the word in any way, please do not hesitate to do so.
But What is the Theme?</u>
Glad you asked! I'm looking for someone to take an ordinary stock and make it extraordinary. How will you do that? Why, by adding a sense of the mystique to the work...combining several stocks together in a photomanipulation, digital artwork, or traditional artwork to create something magical. That's right! The theme is Mythos and Magic--meaning this contest is open to anything from Arthurian Legends to Fairy-Tales to Ancient Greece to Egypt to Celtic legends--and so forth! Contest entries will be judged on originality, effort, aesthetic aspects, conceptual thought process, and use of required stock.</b>

- No profanity or use of the images in a less-than-tasteful way.
- No literature entries. :[ I'm sorry. As a writer, I know that's frustrating. However, I am always welcome to other creative minds helping out in judging or perhaps writing me their stock ideas in the future...!
- No color-changes or simple manips, like adding a film grain in photoshop.
I know that's not a lot of wiggle-room, but this is what makes the contest so special! The inclusive amount of stocks can give you a lot of variety, so I look forward to seeing what you come up with. The Greek goddess Athena was the protector of wise counsel, war, art, philosophy, the defence of towns, heroic endeavour, weaving, pottery and other crafts. She became the companion and advisor to such famous heroes as Heracles, Odysseus, Jason, Perseus, Diomedes et cetera, and she fought and defeated the sea-god Poseidon over the city which would eventually became named Athens in her honor.

She sided with the Greeks in the Trojan war, and helped Diomedes to defeat her half brother Ares.

Her parents were Zeus and Metis, although Metis never gave birth to her but simply supplied with some 'genetic material' since Athena was born fully growth from the forehead of Zeus.

_{New Contests, Stock, and Showcasing the Winners of Mythos and Magic! You won't want to miss this!}

First and foremost, I would like to (much belatedly, for work has driven most of my 'free time' underground--but that's okay) congratulate the three who won the Mythos and Magic Contest hosted by , , and myself, .
There were a LOT of good entries, and many heated debates over whom to choose as the winning trio.

Here are a few deviants who truly hit the mark for the concepts they created.

In third place was , whose image both chilled and surprised the viewers and judges. Not only is she a deviant capable of photomanipulation, however, but she is very much a well-rounded artist in a lot of ways! She paints, draws, writes, has made a few fractals--you'd be missing out if you didn't go visit her extraordinary gallery.

In second place is , whose interpretation of Eros and Psyche was a much fought-over one. However, the concept was very spot-on for the contest's requirements, and there were a lot of aspects to love about her efforts and interpretations. In fact, her gallery is chock-full of fun and unique artwork, ranging from further photomanipulations to illustrations and traditional paintings. Go have a peek!

And finally, in first place, is a stunning interpretation of the "Frog King", put forth by , a highly underrated and very talented up-and-coming artist! His ability to create mood and atmosphere in a work is utterly amazing. You would be truly amazed by the work in his gallery. There may not be a lot of Deviations there yet, but with a little encouragement, I bet he would flourish. Go check him out!

:iconMay-Model: is hosting a lovely contest. All you have to do is manip a photo from her gallery!
However, there's a trick to this: her stock is quite unique. Most of it is portraiture, and I think you'll find most Deviants tend to migrate towards full-body stock. But don't be afraid to try your hand. Her work is quite good, and she's a fresh face to the Dev-community looking to make it big. Go check her out. Here are her rules:
