Another dAmn Interview! is a new series I've started up where I
interview a deviant who is regular in the dAmn/Chatroom area of
deviantART, and ask them to share their initial and current opinions on
that area of the site. Since this is a new series I'd love some
suggestions from you about how it can be improved, and any other
questions you think should be asked. Thank you!
1. When did you start using dAmn compared to how long you've been on dA?I've been on deviantART for a little more than 2 and a half years. I found dAmn about 9 months after I joined dA and first joined
#devart. For the first 2 or 3 days I hung out there, or mainly observed there as I couldn't hold a conversation with anybody and started spamming with

memes and broke a few rules... I was a naughty dAmn boy back then.
2. Which chatrooms do you usually hang out in? Any rooms you'd recommend do others?I guess the one I most commonly participate in is
#TheDarkAngelGathers, a lot of my friends chat in there. I also sometimes go to
#seniors and
#TheNightOwlsChat from time to time. If I'm trying to kill time or know I will be able to be on for a while I'll go to
#dAmnCluedo and or
#PhotoHunt to see if they have any games going. c:
3. Has dAmn had given you any inspiration artistically?Yeah, it has. Sometimes if I'm in lack of inspiration or need opinions
etc on one of my works I'll go there and get some help from some people.
Also Art Jam chat events are always fun, you have to work fast but there
are often really good works that come out of them. Real motivation AND
inspiration booster.
4. Which medium of art was your first love?Seance I was little I always drew little pencil drawings. From stick
figures, until I was like 6, then stepped up to football head characters
with no neck or pelvis. My sister was my main coach with drawing,
teaching me the importance of anatomy and giving my drawings more
realistic features like how shoulders should extend more to the side and
not just stop where the head is and flop down.
Though when I
first found deviantART in 2007 and started to browse all the wonderful
pictures with the search engine I got to see a lot of new stuff. Just
looking at them made me think about how the head should be shaped, and
how fingers and hands are more than just 5 swirls.
Even though
now my main work is pixel and emoticons, deviantART has helped me grow
so quick as an artist. I mean, in just 1 year of being on here my
pictures grew a bunch more than they would without! Especially with
emotes, wow, just a year ago I could barely get good shading.
5. What Emote/Graphic is your favourite to use in dAmn?I think my faves are:

6.
What was your first impression of the chats before you started using
them? Were you curious, scared, eager to learn about them?I wasn't very fond of chats when I found dAmn as I had bad experiences
with them in the past. People spamming me with e-mails, always asking
"ASL" was really annoying. I read the chat rules though, saw that a lot
of that stuff was forbidden and that dAmn was safe I'd thought I'd give
it a try. And they were right.
7. Have you made any friends while using dAmn? Do you think you would have met them if you didn't use the chats?Yes yes yes, very many. Some of my best friends I met on there! Most from chat events and
#TheDarkAngelGathers.
8. Is there anything else you would like to add?Don't be afraid to try out dAmn! It's not like other chat rooms like AOL
or Yahoo chat, dAmn is completely safe as my experiences have gone.c:
dAmn stands for
deviant
ART
message
network btw. just thought I'd throw that out there.
