"A riot is going out of controll law enforcements are keeping a close watch to the boarders and over a thousand arrest are made. people are also taking advantage of this for they are looting, killing, and rampage all over the place." As the news reporter was talking giving accurate information on whats going on in the city. Rusty speaks to her friend Vepsky "Wow,the people finally snapped...after all that they just explode onto the governments face like that" "Yeah but, what did you think would've happened they managed to keep their temper longer than you could" Vepsky responded jokingly "Shut up Vepsky!" Rusty enraged as expected by Vepsky as he known her long enough that she'll boil instantly to anyone who treats her that way.

The two keeped on arguing getting up from the sofa Rusty 'bout to hit him in the stomach but, before she could she lost her footing to what felt like an earthquake. The lights go out making the room pitch black. Vepsky falls on his back with Rusty landing on him! "Ugh, get off of me!" He cries out but, Rusty is having a hard time on figuring out which direction she's looking she feels like she's on the ceiling so Vepsky pushes her off him. As the two of them recover from the fall they now face a new problem, they can't see anything!

Vepsky looks around aimlessly onto the dark while Rusty just standing there not being able to think straight. Vepsky then trips over Rusty's shoe and hits the curtains knocking them off unraveling rays of sunlight. Rusty about to loose her mind in the dark runs over to the window and jumps through it "AAARRRRRRGGHHH!!!" Vepsky startled he notices the door next to him and meets Rusty on the other side. Rusty is panting heavily and Vepsky comes to her aid "Hay, you all right?" Rusty with a blank stare answeres yes "Come on lets go tell the others what happened, your dad is the closest to us so lets see him first, okay?" Rusty answeres yes again with a blank stare, having trouble to get up Vepsky decides to piggy-back her to her fathers.

What's Hot? Fan Art Traditional

This week's article is dedicated to all my friends and their many fandoms  Nerd on, my friends!

See the light and remember it

Lighting in photography is a living, changing art. One of the most important abilities of a photographer is to see light and to remember it. Light is the most changing element in our daily life. We move among solid objects and among people who do not change drastically during a day or a week. But visually the appearance of our environment and of people around us may change from one hour to the next due to the time of day, the weather, or the particular source of light. Photographers are aware of these changes and store in their memory the impact different types of light have on our emotions and our subconscious. For a photographer, watching the light becomes second nature.

Some of the photographer's palette of tools:

-The angle of light
-Quality (hard or soft)
-Color
-Intensity

Angle of light

Quality of light

Hard vs Soft: Light can be hard, soft or gradations in between.
Soft lighting gained its popularity because it gives the scene a more natural look than hard lighting. But at the same time, it has a danger of lacking character. Soft light is very forgiving. Uncontrolled, it is still acceptable photographically. It's really hard for soft light to look bad, but it's not hard for hard light to look bad. If you go too soft in the lighting, it just becomes boring. The difficult thing is really to light softly, but to create a contrast at the same time.
The hardest source of light known in nature is the noonday sun; whereas an overcast sky is the softest source known.

Color

Light has color. We all can differentiate the different color temperature the light has when you are walking in that beautiful light just before the sunset or normal day light, or flash.

Intensity

The amount of daylight changes with the hour, weather, season and latitude.

:lightbulb: A fun exercise :lightbulb:
  • Staying as close to home as possible, find a location that lets you face east and head there in time for the sunrise. Compose your shot with a focal length between 35-50mm and shoot into the sunrise. Shoot the same composition one or two hours later, then at noon, then two hours before sunset, then one hour before sunset, and then at sunset.
  • Repeat this exercise during these same intervals with another composition but as you face to the south.
  • Finally, download the images into your computer and look at them in a slideshow. That way you will really see and feel the difference of the light and the difference that the right time of the day can make.

 Feel free to share your results of the exercise in the comments below!

What kind of lighting do you tend to use in your photography? Are you a hard light lover or a soft light lover? And why?

Julien Breton aka Kalaam is an amazing calligrapher, graffiti artist, and photographer also one of my personal heroes. I first came across his work in a calligraphy class a few years ago while studying the form of Hassan Massoudi and I immediately fell in love with it.

With inspiration from Hassan Massoudi, Breton started with traditional Arabic scripts and developed his own unique French-Arabic infused style. Breton fuses calligraphy with a graphic graffiti-style aesthetic sensibility and presents it in the form of light art. His works combine elements of calligraphy, graffiti, light art, photography, and performance, at the same time as incorporating views of historic monuments.

For beautiful demonstrations of his work and the story behind it pleases visit the links below. I know you'll enjoy!

Great Lighting Practice Session

Journal Entry: Thu Apr 25, 2013, 4:01 PM

:icondmgremlin:  Great Lighting Practice Session

We had a great, productive and creative Lighting Practice Session last night!  We worked on single-light setups, moving into 2-3 light setups to add those highlights that make a portrait pop!  Always thanks to ~HourglassDeviant for bringing her modeling experience to the set for these classes.  We all know that one of the best things a less-experienced photographer can do is work with a model who really knows her craft, and Hourglass definitely fits the bill.

Open House is tomorrow (Friday) evening - we have a nice solid guest list of musicians, photographers, and an MUA set to join us for the first time, and looking forward to seeing and meeting everyone.

So this means the next few days will be a flurry of event photos, and then next month's dates showing up in the schedules!
