Part of my pern game thing. Personal project.
Main roster here-[link]
I am making multiple settings because, frankly, I'm a derp and really enjoy having multiple climates to write in? Climate is like, 1/3 of the fun for me, not anything sense-making like, you know, PLOT or something.
Expect a desert and temperate weyr too.
and then I'll have TROPICAL TEPUI, Irradiated AU, Desertland, swamp AND normal flavor. 8D
I expect most of them will be somewhat sparesly populated.
Also, yes. If anyone wonders, I do really like pern a lot.
I've been reading it since elementary school and playing it since 2000~ I'mnotaddictediswear...
So yeah. Expect moar pern stuff.
Overall Canon level:
Some riders may not be human.
Golds impressing to females and kings to males is just a trend for the purposes of this weyr. Sexuality impression DOES NOT EXIST for the purposes of this weyr.
Mutation colors may exist.
Canon colors will likely stretch the boundries of color limits and may hav emarkings, small or large, in other colors, either secondary to their canon color or not.
There may be non-pernese species in my weyrs.
Certain aspects of society, such as sexism, may be altered for my uses.
Physical Mutation or other mutation
Ranker within weyr
Female capable of laying.
Southern continent. 8th pass. (alt canon; was never completely abandoned). Grubs present. Vegetation allowed. Subtropical swamp Climate.
A relatively new project, it is a joint venture started by some holders, the beastcraft and the weyr. At present, it is very small. created to study, conserve and protect pern's wetlands, and see how a weyr can protect an agrarian hold (though they do more foraging then growing.)
Special care is being taken to NOT fuck up the wetlands. They built inland of most of the swamp, where the ground is more solid, and shore it up only when they need to. Lots of native veg for erosion control. The weyr is closest to the shore, then the crafthalls. The hold/agragrian setup is further in, and only places where cultivating plants and domestic animals will not harm the ecosystem too badly. Been in existence for about 30 turns, growing but will always be small. Receives dragon support from neighboring weyrs if needed during threadfall. possibly one of the most densely biodiverse places on pern-- hence the beastcraft's interest.
Named for the several species of firefly discovered by the beastcrafter who suggested the project. She reportedly found 2 undiscovered species within the first week of her trek to the location, shortly thereafter realized just how biodiverse this ecosystem was and how valuable it may be for study, and decided to propose the establishment of an outpost.
Kind of dangerous wilderness and dangerous place to live. Population density of non-humans relatively high because they are better adjusted to the climate.
Assume unspecified inhabitants are npcs.
Riders live in huts/houses made of wood, with thin-cut stone roofing at low angles to save the buildings from thread. Queens
