EDITED AGAIN. THIS SHIT IS BIG. LIKE REALLY BIG. NOT JUST ME BEING LIKE "OH LOOK, SOMETHING INTERESTING." LIKE REALLY. SEE BOTTOM.
Rain here! As I have been bad and missed my scheduled discussion dates due to the start of college last week, I have decided to make up for it with a new discussion! Of course, I COULD wait until my assigned Wednesday in two days, but that wouldn't be as fun. Plus that's when classes start. And more people would have found this by then so it wouldn't be AS cool to some of you.
[link]The timer started at 7 days.... And for those of you who don't know Subaseka is the abbreviation for Subarashiki Kono Sekai (lit. It's a Wonderful World), the Japanese title for The World Ends With You.
I feel like this speaks for itself. Thank you ~KimYoshiko for posting this on your journal even though you too found it from someone else. I usually don't troll for this kind of news until after a game show (I mean, Tokyo Game Show is coming up, maybe they'll announce more then?)
Now, I'm not saying that this is definitely hinting and what we hope, it could really be anything Subarashiki related, but I mean what else WOULD it be?
*EDIT* Okay, is it just me, or does it look different today? I think it got clearer and we can see more... If you, like I, left your window open because you don't want to miss the end of the countdown, refresh the page, but look very carefully.
*EDIT 2* Upon closer inspection, who else noticed that the timer isn't really acting like a timer at all... Sure, it's counting down the last (at this point) 5 days, but if you watch the "seconds" area, it definitely is behaving with a strange sort of pattern.... I'm looking at the source code, but seeing as I haven't yet LEARNED any programming, this only helps so much. Feel free to take a look if you HAVE experience, let us know what it all means. As an amateur looking at it, I noticed a couple of things: 1) There is an entire code source devoted to the "ticker", which goes to show that I am right in that it is not a normal timer, although it looks like your every day, standard, TWEWY hand timer, 2) the hours, minutes, and seconds all have two different codes affecting how they count, and 3) the numbers 24, 60, 60, and 1000 show up a lot in that order, indicating the hours in a day, minutes in an hour, and seconds in a minute. What does that mean the 1000 is? You'd have to tell me... I haven't figured it out yet, but if what I learned in elementary school is right, that is no ordinary timer. There's something special about it...
*EDIT 3* You know, the more I look at this, the more I notice about it. Anyone else find it strange that even though this is the JAPANESE WEBSITE all the timers correspond to YOUR TIME ZONE? Does this mean that people closer to Japan's time zone will know sooner? Are they ACTUALLY being really strict about the DAY that people find out what this is all about? I can't be sure, but there sure as hell is a reason for it, so don't forget to keep googling stuff about this before your timer ends, someone else may already be able to see it.
*EDIT 4* HA! The picture IS changing! For those of you who couldn't figure it out yesterday, it's gotten to the point of obviousness today that we are looking at the Shibuya skyline, made obvious by TWEWY's token use of the "104 Building" as a main point of reference in the game. Yup, music definitely changed too, today it's "Calling", a mixture between the original version and the remade Kingdom Hearts 3D version by the sound of it, plus a little extra stuff. I LOVE IT!!!!!
DISCUSS! Or questions are fine too I guess.
Well, the internet is at risk of explosion due to the most recent TWEWY news. A leak in the network of the Japanese Square Enix store revealed to more observant shoppers that along with a new The World Ends With You soundtrack going on sale, it is also referenced an iOS version of the game coming out later this year in its description. Way to go guys, you are soooo smart. Now, I suppose this can't be all bad, I mean I suppose that TWEWY would port rather w--OH WAIT IT WOULDN'T. WHAT ABOUT THE TOP SCREEN GUYS, HUH? HUH?! USE YOU'RE DAMN HEADS PEOPLE, WE DON'T WANT THIS. Now, I was originally optimistic involving the news of the platform shipping for the original game, figuring that maybe that wasn't the big surprise. But with the news of the soundtrack, my self justification kind of falls through, as I was counting on the new music as being proof for something new and refreshing in our beloved version of Shibuya.
But, DON'T GIVE UP HOPE:! While I'm just as, if not more, disappointed as the rest of you due to this "revelation", I still believe that maybe it is only a precursor for something still to come. I mean, would the porting of the game REALLY be worthy of the countdown? Or a completely new, awesome soundtrack? I believe no. Maybe they meant to do the slip. They know how the internet finds these things, making them viral news that even if only 10 people in the world saw it, in a few hours everyone who cares would know. Just like how I'm telling you. Maybe this is top get hype back up for a game that has been out of the picture for 4 years. Maybe when TWEWY turns 5, we'll see ourselves faced with an actually new The World Ends With You, but they want to remind people just how much we love and miss our pin using friends. Either way, I'm still eagerly awaiting to see what this countdown will bring us, because I believe in the long run it can only mean good things for TWEWY and its fans. Who knows, maybe the Tokyo Game Show will tell us something that the timer won't.
What would really piss me off is if the this wasn't a porting and a new game for iOS. Slap in the face.
Expect to hear from me in two days, I'm blowing this shit out of the water the moment that timer hits "mission end". This reaper is waiting for her next assignment. Rain out.
