Hello people

More and more people are using Photoshop Actions, whether for photography, photomanipulation, or other style of art you like.
The truth is that these Photoshop Actions improve the final result in many ways and make it easy for you to achieve the most incredible effects.

What are photoshop Actions?
- Photoshop actions are a pre-recorded set of actions done in photoshop to achieve a certain effect. Instead of loosing maybe 1 hour trying to get the perfect contrast, texture, or even more complex effects, just by pressing Play, you have all these steps in 3 seconds.

After I download the Photoshop Actions, how do I install and use them?
- After you download the file, in case it's zipped, you must unzip t first. The file will be something like XXXX.atn. Then you must copy that file and paste it on the Photoshop Actions folder: My Computer > Local Disc > Programs > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop > Presets > Photoshop Actions.
After this procedure, on your Photoshop you must go to Window > Actions and, on the box where you have your actions, you must press the little button on the rigth upper corner (not the close button lol)and then choose Load Actions. After this is done, you just need to choose the Action you just pasted before and it's ready to use; press Play and see the magic happening on your image.

What are photoshop actions?

Photoshop Actions are the recordings of commands that can be applied to one image or multiple images in photoshop. When you press play, it applies these recorded commands. These recorded commands are edit effects you can create in photoshop, think about changing the colors, adding more contrast or brightness to spice up your pictures! Using a photoshop action save a lot of time for the editing process of your photo.

Version #07 is up! Not only the previews are updated, but the actions as well. Now it's much easier to adjust the action to your picture.
After you applied the action, you can easily set the opacity of each layer or just of the whole coloring. Hope you like this new experience. Have fun! =lieveheersbeestje

The Actions are created with Photoshop CS2 and should be used with Photoshop CS versions only, I don't recommend other programs. These should work properly with photoshop CS to CS5. Click on 'download file' to download these actions, after that you can install it and use it with photoshop.

Credit me if you use an action, this is required. (somewhere in your artists comments) or somewhere in your credits page if you used these actions for an image outside deviantart.

Do not copy, edit, publish, transmit or reproduce in any way.

Here is a feature about photoshop actions.

When making photoshop action previews to preview a photo effect:

Use your own images or use stock images.

Do not browse the web for celebrity images.

Use non-edited photos, because that's kind of the entire point.

Uploading

Make your own actions. Do not play through somebody's actions and then add to it or adjust it your way, and then upload it. Make your own.

There are many amazing stock images that work well as an eye-catching preview (also depends on the effects you create for it, as well as the entire layout for the preview. I just keep a simple preview without fancy texts)

You want people to be able to look at the preview and feel the emotion of the effect. That's why I use the whole image in a preview.

Sometimes it turns into weeks or months until I come across an image that I want to use as a photoshop action preview, but what I personally look for is:

Quality

It must not be too grainy or terribly out of focus.

It must not be a small image to download. At least over 800 x 800 pixel dimension. (I always crop them down to 600 pixels, but I need them to be large enough so I can crop out any unwanted areas on the sides or corners.)
Example 1

this lovely cat image is large enough to crop so that you may only use the face of it in a preview, if you prefer it to be that way. Either way works just fine: full image or the face.

This image is high enough quality, that I was able to crop out what I didn't want.

Photoshop Actions - A feature

From putting actions on DA, I have been continuously been shocked by the ratio of downloads versus comments and favorites.

Some actions have over 100 downloads and only 10 comments (or less)! feed back is always appreciated-

It takes some time to put together an action, and after you load the action it only takes 1 press of a button to use. It also takes just one click to add a action to your favorites and show some support and appreciation.

This is a feature for some of my favorite actions!
