Throughout my times of being a victim of bullying, I learned that bullying is like a game.
Ignoring the bully isn't one of the best options. They always want a reaction from you. One that they would think is 'funny'
Instead, reply as if they're your friend. Yes, they are most likely not your friend. But just approach them in a friendly way.
Now to the game part. Bullying is like a game if you think about it. Instead of you giving up, get them to give up. The one to give up is the looser. Being the looser in a situation like this, would just make matters worse.
