Hidden Fractalist Interview - Esherymack by LukasFractalizator, journal
Hidden Fractalist Interview - Esherymack
Hello to everyone reading this journal! Before we move on to the interview itself, some of you may ask yourselves questions such as, ‘What is fractal art?’ or ‘Who are ‘fractalists’?’ Let me provide you with a very brief introduction. According to the Oxford Dictionary, fractal is a curve or geometrical figure in which each part shares the same statistical characteristics as the whole. These structures can be found throughout nature, including in plants, minerals, and even in different states of matter such as gas (smoke), liquid (waves), or solid (snowflakes). In simpler terms, Fractal Art refers to fractals presented as an art form, created using fractal-generating software. Term "Fractalist" consists simply of the two words - fractal, and artist. If you would like to know a little bit more, I recommend these brief, yet informative journals by C-91 and tatasz. Finally, welcome to the latest issue of a project called Hidden Fractalist, led by me, @LukasFractalizator. I initiated
Fan Art Friday: Word of Honor by Malintra-Shadowmoon, journal
Fan Art Friday: Word of Honor
Community group is going to start a new Friday fan art feature series. Part I of this series will be the Chinese cdrama Wuxia show "Word of Honor". For deviants who do not know this show, I will start with a short video, containing some scene and the title music. Here follows as well a short interpretation (I hope only with little spoilers, but inspiring to watch), so deviants will know what it is about: Four Season Manson is not the most-known guild in the world of martial arts, but this should soon be a thing of the past as Zhou Zi Shu finds the possibility to change this fact by turning the guild into the assassins guild Window of Heaven for Prince Jin. Zi Shu forces the change upon his family and turns himself into the personal dog of the prince, but many family members struggle. With time, almost the whole family leaves him or gets killed on missions. But everyone who turns away, must pay with his life caused by the Nails of Seven Torments, forcing the victim to die

Cherry Blossoms - tutorial
Hello everyone! (: The theme of the month is Cherry Blossoms - loved by many people! On this occasion, I would like to share the tutorial I prepared for you! The whole thing was done in Photoshop but I think you can easily repeat it in other programs and even with traditional media. Follow the steps and create your own artwork! Post your drawing on DeviantArt with the tag #CherryBlossomChallenge and get a Profile badge! You can upload your deviation using this link: https://www.deviantart.com/submit/?tags=cherryblossomchallenge - required tag will be added automatically! (: Let's start! I. Draw the first flower. Start by drawing a small circle with 5 lines extending from it. Now make a sketch of the petals of our flower. On the left side of the picture I show you how to draw it easily step by step. At this stage, it is worth focusing on the general arrangement of each element and not going into detail. Once the sketch is ready, we can create a new layer and start to make a

Art Share: Old and New
One of the best benefits of most forms of art is that no matter how long ago it was created or shared, it can still be enjoyed long after the fact. (In the case of performed art that went unrecorded, maybe that's not so true, but if the memory sticks then there's still that!) So, to appreciate the many works of art shared across DeviantArt, here's an art-sharing challenge! Go through your Favourites and share a few of the most recent works you've added to your Favourites, then scroll back and find some of the older art you added to your Favourites and share that as well! Aim to feature 10-20 works of art in total. If you've collected a lot of art, you don't have to go all the way back to the very first deviation you collected, but you may be surprised to rediscover something you forgot you loved if you do! Here are mine:
Community Writing Challenge: Haiku! by ikazon, journal
Community Writing Challenge: Haiku!
Haiku as a poetry form is well-established, with hundreds of years of poets showing how to be thoughtful, witty, and appreciative in a very small amount of space. If you're not familiar, the basic summary of haiku is that it's a poetry form that originated in Japan and focuses on nature. The structure of haiku in Japanese is 17 characters called on that, similar to syllables in English, act as phonetic units. In haiku, these on are typically divided into phrases of 5 on, then 7, then 5. This is the familiar concept of haiku most people know, minus the part where haiku specifically focused in some way on nature. If you follow the structure but write about human nature, then congratulations, you've written senryu instead! When writing in English, it's a little more complicated, but the 5-7-5 syllable structure works just fine, but you can also opt for brevity, though. If you want to learn more, I wrote a journal about this for @projecteducate many years ago that you can read, and find

Feature: Designing characters and creatures + more
It is time to feature more tutorials and undiscovered art! :la: As usual, the feature will be divided. The first part includes tutorials on how to design characters and creatures, and the second part is a selection of artwork I’ve discovered recently with fewer than 50 favourites. Previous features are linked at the bottom of the journal, and I post a new feature each month on my profile, usually around the 15th :dummy: We'll start off with some guides on how to design human/humanoid characters. First, @Dinloss has an excellent walk-through of how to design the character themselves - their body, their hair, pose, and much more. However, the clothes and accessories of a character are also essential to their looks - which is covered more in-depth by @HANIICU and @Deamond-89, with one discussing functionality and style and the other cloth detailing, including how to draw those: Animal characters are a different beast, however =P Luckily, we have experts on the topic -

I have always been a pessimist, already mourning for memories I have not yet experienced. I imagine how your rose perfume will one day become dizzying with ghosts of unfinished songs and poems, and even opening the windows will not get rid of heavy promises that hang in the air. I think for me grief works backward - I accept defeat before anything could start but live the rest of my life in denial, only bargaining when the end is in sight and not merely a delusion that gives myself an out when I still want to.
