Circus Acrobat Harley Quinn Costume

I really wanted to emphasize Harley's playful quality with this costume. With her being a clown and a gymnast, the circus acrobat theme seemed a natural fit.

Black and garnet acetate taffeta. Cotton twill lining and interfacing in the corset; steel bones and busk. Nylon tulle for the petticoat.

Since I was too old to cos Lizzy any longer I decided to jump ship to Doll, however it turns out that I'm not only too old but also too tanned to cos Doll too OTL I guess that means my affair with kuroshitsuji has come to an end, but what a wondrous end it has been. Epic team across the Singapore/Malaysian causeway makes me want to puke blood in all its glory (clearly I am no longer coherent) I rushed this costume out in 3 days had about 30 instances where I threw something against the wall and went I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS ANYMORE LET ME DIE NOW GEH, but well I guess I didn't, somehow managed to haul my ass from taiwan to singapore and straight to malaysia all in the span of 7 hours, epic transit of win (and pack too) and it was all worth it. My team is so beautiful it makes me want to cry T.T

Finally a full body shot of this costume! It's a bit tricky to wear with the ballet shoes, and incredibly limited sight, and feathers tickling whoever stands on your left...not to mention insanely poofy skirt! *dies* But I do love her and this costume/design to bits!

Any pointers on my fail-post-processing welcome! I think the graphic designer in me got slaughtered by the inner-cosplayer somewhere along the way....

The main fabric is a cream panama which is lined in cotton, polarfleece and lining material depending on where it is, as well as re-inforced with shape-forming material *and* interfacing. Everything had to be drafted and patterned to be incredibly tight fitting and work with the panama being interfaced so that it had a bulk that'd sit nice and form the curves on the bodice and edge of the dress nicely. The dress has a functional corset back with the boning inserted into the lining.

My arm puffs are essentially the same pattern as Tutu's (which took me a while to re-figure out n_n;) with the scalloped lace hand painted from white to cream to match the panama (which is the same stuff that ~warui-chan used for her Dagger's reverse-waistcoat! The striped waist sash is also hand-made with all the stripes being machine embroidered. The major roses on the bottom of the dress are partially modified with extra hand-made and painted petals so that they're larger. They're also attatched to the crinoline that gives the skirt it's shape. Also, all the roses have tiny little diamontes individually glued onto them for extra sparkle~

My beloved parasol (which is currently broken ;^;) was a very heavily modified umbrella - my dad and I had to lengthen the shaft and turn a new handle with that little tassel. The spokes also had to be cut back, painted and re-covered with cotton lycra which then had white fringe and cluny lace hand sewn onto it.

Doll's shoes are actually modified ballet shoes - they were painted white with specialized leather paint, and modified with roses (that match the waist sash) as well as insaaanely long ties (IIRC, each one's 4-5 metres long). My striped sock was also self made (because eBay hates me XD) and attached to the sock toppers and garters so everything sits nicely.

The headress started out by taking a plaster mould of my head, papier mache-ing over that, and then attatching about 3-4 different kinds of roses onto it for organic variety. The ostritch plumes, hand-beaded crystals and matching panama ties were then attatched. The bow ties work withthe opening of the neck corset which was patterned through draping and features matching lace from the rest of the outfit, as well as panama-covered buttons.

Phew...I think that's all! Sorry for the TL;DR! ;_;

~Amazing Photographers and Shoot helpers~
:iconrisachantag::iconamenokitarou::icontsubaki-chan::iconchristilite::iconrallamajoop:

The wonderful and amazing ~christilite has worked at the circus in WA from before i knew her and she was nice and kind and awesome enough to let our Kuroshitsuji Circus group come in and do a photoshoot in the big-top! We had permission from Joseph Ashton and because of Chrystal working there, we could use the other props like the tightrope, the ladder and even take pictures with the horses!!!!! There was speedy and boy - they were so much fun to work with!!!

Working with Speedy for this particular shoot was great! Doll got to sit on him, he pulled the carriage with Snake and Joker leading it in, and Black holding him in place - Chrystal said i was the one who was most like a man and he would listen too...you see, Speedy wanted to run around and play with the circus crew in the big tent...but the photographers didn't think that would be a good idea to get a clear shot... lol.

My rather crappy and extremely rushed cosplay of Joker from Kuroshitsuji. For my second made-from-scratch cosplay it's alright I guess, but yeah;;;;
Wig was made by knotting one and attaching a lace-front to the fring (yes, I ventilated the lace-front as well), and also by attaching a number of blonde extensions that I dyed at the bases by the sharpie method (Don't try this unless you're desperate - the dye stained the collar of my shirt;;; )
Hopefully next year we'll have the full circus group organized, but for now, it's just me;;;;

Photo was taken by the lovely :iconlight-kitten: at the State Theatre in Sydney. All credits for awesome photography and hiding how shite my costume was go to her.

I made this costume about 2 years ago. I didn't follow any pattern. I just winged it. My husband has one too that looks slightly different. This is a four legged stilt suit. We weren't really sure what to call them so for lack of a better name we call them "Stilt Spirits."

Our main inspiration was from watching The Dark Crystal as a child. I have always wanted to make a tall four legged costume (like the Land Striders) to terrify people and this worked perfectly. We actually met the Frouds that created the Land Striders have met us and love our costumes. We are also really inspired by Miyazaki. So the combination of the two are what made us create these.

You can see us on YouTube walking around in these:

We have also appeared at Fairie Con 2011 to perform with Priscilla Hernandez. She is incredible. You can see her here:

We have noticed a lot of people online making our costumes now and we are so honored and flattered. Thank you everyone!

Mine has extra large medical crutches on the arms which make it really great for your back. Very comfy! Circus peg stilts for the legs (custom made by thespinsterz.com). Garen used dry wall stilts for his legs. They are mainly made of upholstery foam (it comes in a big roll for chair cushions) and fabric. Surprisingly easy to make. Mine costed me about $500, my husband's ran him about $350 due to the different types of stilts.

We tried different faces and masks, but nothing seemed to creep out people more than the blank and expressionless human face. On Halloween we stand in yards to pretend like we are decorations then follow families down the street. FREAKS THEM OUT!!! We also walk in our town on random days in the year just to surprise people. : )

Thanks for taking a peek!
