Book of Prayers

This prop was made for my Sister of Battle costume. It might not seem so significant compared to the whole costume, but it took months to finish this book. It has got 300 pages, and all of them are hand-written by me. I used original Imperial texts from WH 40k role playing game rulebooks and novels - including prayers, hymns and speeches. I wanted to draw all the illustrations but I ran out of time, so I printed out some official illustrations from books.

This was my first attempt to make a book. I used normal sheets of paper for the pages tinted in coffee, and cardboard and faux letaher for the cover. The metal things on the corners of the cover are from an old folder. The seal on the front cover is made from craft foam. There is also a gold ribbon bookmark.

To make it look more authentic I have stained the pages with 'blood' (the mixture of two shades of red and two shades of brown acrylic paint) and I've burnt the sides of the pages.

The book is attached to a belt with some chains.
