So I was bored and decided to redesign my favorite beat 'em up duo; Sub-Zero and Scorpion.

I distanced myself from their original Ninja design and tried to make them very different from each other. I went with their most basic attributes and also took the chance to try a new style. A rather cartoony one.

I started out with Sub-Zero.

Sub-Zero is a cryomancer, cryomancer are a race of people that can control Ice. When I worked on his redesign I immediately thought about where he would live on this world. I thought about places that are known for cold temperature. Russia came to mind. He would probably wear Winter Clothes, not because of necessity but as a statement. I kind of got stuck on Russian Soviet Uniforms. But I didn't want him to look like some sort of soldier so I gave him that rather goofy looking hat.

He looks more like a contractor now. Some sort of person you'd hire to get things done.

Or some shit.

Had a fantastic female model again in figure drawing she was wearing this great sort of Russian Cold War outfit, and couple of hours later I got the whole image done. The las was done in about an hour minus a few touch ups. Finding the tone and background decisions took the longest. Along with trying out some new techniques. Peace.

Though the night was freezing, a calm mood filled the streets of Angel Falls. While Bardak monitored the city from a 3 story building, he couldn't help but notice the streets were beginning to fill up with soldiers from all branches of the armed forces on leave for the holidays. Memories of his past began to fill his mind as he saw soldiers returning to their family and friends.

"Just because you’re now a General, doesn't mean you can't see your family every now and then, or must I schedule an appointment, Mr. Big Shot”?

"Ha, it’s good to see you too father." Bardak replied when he first became a General.

“Good work Bardak; you just might be officer material.”

“Thank you, Sergeant” Bardak replied as a young cadet.

"Sir, permission to maliciously injure everyone into a coma who dares to take a bite of the surprise dish I created for this occasion."

Bardak chuckled as a young captain, "Permission granted, Anuna."

Though he came back to reality after he sensors detected someone approaching he position.

Olga noticed the black armored figure of Bardak from her nightly patrol. His silhouette was quite unmistakable given his distinctive looking helmet. She touched down on the roof of the building he was standing on, her boots crunching on the frozen gravel beneath her. From here she could see the General's breath so she knew it must be quite cold out, not being able to register the temperature properly by herself. The process that had created her into the Soviet super-weapon made her all but invulnerable to only the most extreme forms of heat or cold. Olga smiled warmly as she made her way over, the General himself having turned to see her.

"Greetings Comrade General. It is a cold night da?"

"Greetings Olga. My sensors indicate its 15 degrees Fahrenheit out tonight, though my armor has been designed to withstand extreme cold temperatures. May I ask what are you doing here?" Bardak replied

"Just on patrol really. Your armor may keep you warm, but is rather distinctive looking Comrade General. Making sure that the troops are making it in safely?" she said motioning to the disembarking soldiers below.

"Indeed, these soldiers put their lives on the line to protect this country. They earned some shore-leave for the holidays." he said while watching over the soldiers reuniting with their family.

"By the way, how are things going with Maia and you?" Bardak asked while looking at Olga curiously.

"Things go quite well Comrade General. We have found it best that we avoid speaking of politics at home and that makes a big difference. She shows me how to use something called the Tee-Vo and I cook for her some authentic Soviet dishes. It is working out very much well." Olga said smiling as she thought back to their first and last political battle. She would rather face a horde of Fourth Reich super-soldiers than go through that again.

"I'm glad hear things are going so well for you too" Bardak said smiling with a warm tone. As he turned back to the street, he stop smiling and let out a low sigh.

The former Russian farm-girl frowned noticing her friend's obvious change in demeanor. "What is it Comrade General? Something troubles you da?"

"It’s nothing really...it’s just..." Bardak was soon interrupted when his BTR was going off. After getting out his BTR and entering his codes, he was shocked to see what was on his screen. He then transferred the message and coordinates to his helmet then looked at Olga.

"Olga, I just received a distress call from a transport plane on its way to Angel Falls. It’s been hit by a severe hail storm. Two of the aircraft's engines have been heavily damaged and there running low on fuel. By my estimates, the plane will crash in 37 minutes."

The woman known as the Soviet Superwoman met his grim expression with one of her own. She involuntarily began to hover in the air, her boots lifting off the ground a few feet.

"Which direction General, I will meet you there!"

"No need, we'll get there together" Bardak said as he got out his BTR. After typing in a few commands, he stood close to Olga, and then pressed two buttons on his BTR. A bright light suddenly engulfed both of them and they appeared on the bridge of Bardak's ship.

After a moment of being disoriented, the Soviet juggernaut looked around the bridge of the General's command vessel. It was a bright, highly advanced command center with smooth and highly durable bulkheads and holographic user interface devices expanding out of console tops. The General moved quickly, sitting down at the helm and began to rapidly type on one of the holographic panels. Olga looked out the main-viewer to see they were already on approach to the injured Lockheed C-130 Hercules. Smoke was belching out of both of its starboard engines as it was pelted by the vicious hailstorm. The doomed plane was descending towards the ocean at a staggering rate of speed.

"There," Bardak said as he continued to lock in commands, "I've jammed all communications and radar in a 10 mile radius. I'm going to move alongside it and focus on it with my ship's tractor beams. I'll need you to fly over and help me make sure those engines don't explode."

Olga nodded, clenching her fingers tight into her gloves as she watched the crippled military aircraft.

He then flew the Helios directly over the Hercules, protecting the aircraft from the falling hail, and then engaged his tractor beam. Once the Hercules was secure in mid-air, Bardak entered the codes to open one of the Helios's air-lock. As fast as a bullet, Soviet Superwoman flew out of the air lock and flew towards the two burning starboard engines. Smoke, engine debris, and flames clouded her sight while limiting her breathing; but that didn't stop her. She then grabbed both engines, unaffected by the intense heat, and then completely ripped the engines from the plane. While holding the engine over her head, the Helios tractor beam suddenly suspended the broken engines in mid-air along with the Hercules. Knowing the Hercules was safe; Soviet-Superwoman immediately flew towards the side hatch of the plane.

The Soviet Superwoman flew alongside the hatch and tapped on the steel door several times. A few seconds later a pair of soldiers slid the door open and let her aboard, quickly slamming it shut behind her. As Olga looked around the plane she could see it was packed with combat veterans returning home from active duty. They were all strapped in tight and bracing for the worst. Upon seeing her board the plane though they immediately began to cheer and looked visibly relieved. Having her here meant the chances of them plummeting to their deaths in the ice cold waters off of Angel Falls shot down to zero. At the moment, none of them were thinking about how the plane was being held steady as she was in front of them. A few of the passengers were injured, but it didn't look like anything too serious to her untrained eye.

"Everyone remain calm please” she said in a loud, clear voice, "you will be putting down in Angel Falls in a matter of moments."

She then moved towards the cabin at the front of the plane to discuss things with the pilots. While Soviet-Superwoman made her way to the cockpit, Bardak opened a channel with the pilots.

"C-130 Hercules, this is General Bardak commanding the U.R.S.S. Helios, what is your status?"

"Unknown, sir! Our starboard engines are completely gone yet we're not in the ocean. Also, Our port engines are active and we have the throttles at full but we're not moving, sir" one of the pilots said with confusion.

"I have you in my ships tractor beam; you'll be towed to the nearest airport. Soviet-Superwoman is currently on-board assisting the passengers. Please give her your full cooperation."

Both pilots were shocked to hear such news but replied in unison, "Yes, sir!"

After he ended the transmission, Bardak thought revealing his ship to the people at the airport could cause a great amount of chaos. He then entered his command codes into his helm, transporting multiple holo-emitters around his ship.

The muscular Slavic woman entered the cockpit just as the General was finishing his transmission. The entire flight crew turned around to see her, the once fear in their eyes transforming into hope. Two of Angel Falls Alpha level superheroes were helping them get through this. Where once death was a certainty now they had more than a fighting chance to live.

"I removed the malfunctioning engine. Now the risk to the plane is very low with the General's tow beams engaged." she said in a confident sounding voice.

The pilot nodded. "When the engine ripped away we all thought that was it."

"I apologize for the scare comrades. I will remain aboard as the General takes us in to make sure that no other disasters befall you."

"Thank you ma'am,” said the rattled co-pilot, "and can I say we are all honored to have you aboard."

Olga smiled "Thank you sir. There was a time when my presence on a United States military vessel would not have been as such."

Meanwhile on Bardak's ship, more of Bardak past suddenly filled his mind. He began seeing images of events from his past.

"Sir, there is a Chtranqua warship on an intercept course…its charging weapons. " said Bardak as a young ensign at the helm

"Bardak to Dr. Shaeki...prepare to receive incoming patients. Bridge to transporter room 5...beam all injured Horians directly to the medical bay." Bardak said while typing commands in his control panel as the captain on board the U.R.S.S. Solomon

Bardak quickly came back to reality as he heard a proximity alarm going off, informing him they are 5 minutes from visual range of the AF airport. Bardak then entered his command codes into his helm, activating all the holo-emitters placed all over his ship. The emitter projected a wide photonic field around Bardak's ship and tractor beam, disguising his ship as a Lockheed aircraft and his tractor beam as multiple grappling hooks.

Both Bardak's ship and the crippled aircraft landed on a commercial runway, away for the arriving and departing planes. Already fire trucks and ambulances were racing across the tarmacs to greet them. One of the soldiers in the back of the plane deployed the emergency landing slide and the returning military personnel were evacuating the downed transport. Olga made sure that the injured were helped off the plane. The flight control team each shook her hand as they made their way off and when the plane was completely empty the Soviet Superwoman descended to the ground outside. Luckily, the media had not yet arrived, but it would only be a matter of time. She gave a thumbs up signal to the General to let him know that everyone was off before making her way back over to his camouflaged vessel.

As soon as she entered, Bardak closed the hatch and was preparing to take off. Knowing it would raise a lot of suspicion and confusion if he took off without using the runway, Bardak steered his ship to an empty runway and used it to take off. He then entered a course to take them back to their original location.

Olga was quiet as she watched the General maneuver his magnificent airship. Something about him seemed different to her though. He seemed tired looking, the lines on his brow furrowed as if he were in deep thought or deep concentration. His hands worked. At first Olga thought he was simply coming down from the previous excitement, but there was something else there. She waited a long few moments before she spoke, breaking the awkward silence that had enclosed them both together.

"Comrade General, Is everything alright?"

Bardak looked away, knowing she sensed something was wrong with him. Knowing she might understand what he is going through, he activated the auto-pilot, and then he sat up straight and turned to her.

"I'm sure you already went through what I think I'm going through. I guess after all this time; being trapped in this dimension, my memories decided to re-appear at random times and it’s starting to make me feel homesick for the Republic and while reminding me of times I want to forget."

Olga nodded slowly, letting him read her emotions as her answer.
Coming to Angel Falls had not at all been of her own design and it had been sudden and violent. Everything she knew, her entire world had been burned away from her like ash and she was left in a strange, futuristic place. A parody of the world she had known her entire life. Up was down and black was white. It had taken her a few years to simply acclimate to the new time and place let alone fall in love, marry and have any semblance of a social life, but all the while she was haunted by what was happening to her home. Were they victorious despite her loss and driven off the alien invaders...were they suffering and struggling still...or was it already over long ago and nothing remained of her homeland but skeletons and charred husks of buildings in the landscape. Most of the time these thoughts were kept far away by the day to day situations here in Angel Falls but every once and awhile they would grow huge in her mind and bear down on her as if they did not want to be forgotten. She knew more than anything what Bardak was going through emotionally.

"When you first arrived in Angel Falls...How did you react to everything being more advanced than you own time period? Bardak said curiously.

"Well, it was very disorienting... Dizzying. Everything was so very confusing but at the same time I was curious. You must also remember that it was not just the technology but the way people talked and dressed...the openness was staggering. It was nothing like I had ever experienced. It was all so overwhelming and at times I still do not think I understand the simplest things. The most interesting thing in retrospect was likewise how much people were interested in me, like I was an antique or link to the past. Is that how it felt for you, like you were looking at the antiques of the past?"

"Well sort of... At first, I thought I crashed on another planet in one of the farthest reaches of the galaxy. For hours, I tried to contact any Republic outpost, ship, even headquarters itself; but I didn't get any response from anyone or any signal from any form of starships. I wasn't until I picked up some ancient Earth radio frequencies that haven't been used in over 90 years that I realized I had to be on Earth. After I scanned for the nearest city, which was the city called Angel Falls; I disguised my ship and headed for the city. I traveled for days on those primitive concrete roads and was constantly being bombarded by the loud honking noise made from those "cars" when they got near me. When I arrived at the city, I was surprised to see everything all chaotic, primitive, and disorganized. Though after a few days, I quickly adapted and accepted the fact that I was in a different time period. How long did it take you to adapt?

"It was more difficult than just a few days. Everything had changed. The world as I had known it was completely gone. A computer more powerful than anything at all in my universe could now be held in the palm of your hand. News from around the globe could be yours to read or watch instantly. It felt smaller...but it also felt less personal. I do not enjoy saying this but I was afraid, Comrade General. All I wanted to do was go back home, the one thing I could not do. It would seem you had the easier time acclimating."

Bardak lightly chuckled, "Well if you put it that way, I guess I did have an easier time, but that's only because I had some help adjusting to this primitive version of my world."

"Well this world is very fortunate to have you, your selflessness and your abilities Comrade." Olga smiled.

Bardak arched his brow and smiled, "Aren't we the modest one?"

"I am telling you nothing but the truth as I have seen it. Dwelling on one's past is something I have had to struggle with for a long time. A personal demon. Let us instead look to the future and the great goods that we can both accomplish da?"

Bardak chuckled, "Well, you could say I'm already a part of that future and what you see around you is one of the millions of great goods humanity as accomplished...at least they will eventually. Thank you Olga, it feels nice knowing there is at least one person in this dimension or the next that can understand what I going though. "

"Likewise Comrade General." Olga said smiling. "If I might ask a favor? Since we are already aboard such a magnificent vessel and your capabilities are much faster than my own, could we perhaps make a detour to France? I have something in mind to purchase for my Возлюбленная, if is not too much troubles."

Bardak smirked at her request, nodded and entered a new course into his helm."

The Downunda Zero Team (DZT)

Magellan Zalinski (Harebit - "ZORRAN")
Magellan is the eldest son of “Captain” Anandeus Zalinski, manager and owner of the DZT Rock/Country Music Band.

Like the Z-Stacks Leader he represents, Magellan is cold, calculating and tough, but he has a gentler side that is rarely shown in the critical public eye. He’s loyal to his crewmates and doesn’t suffer fools gladly, though sometimes he just can’t help himself.

He’s grown up quite self-critical and dispassionate about where it is he stands in the world, and tends to be quite vocal about his likes and dislikes. He never fails to be called the ‘domineering bastard’ of the DZT, but this is only an observation from those outside of the team colours. Magellan’s relationship with his father is virtually non-existant, having died with his beloved mother, Kara-Ma fifteen years back. His father, after learning of his mother’s sufference from cancer, promptly sought out another woman, his mistress – the shrewy Kalin-Da – who eventually married Anandeus and bore him a son, Mathew, Magellan’s younger stepbrother. Neither brother likes the other, and to that end, Anandeus treats Mathew more as his son than he does Magellan – a sore point between the Zalinski Family to be sure.

Magellan has kept his physical abuse at the hands of his father quiet, telling not even his own crewmates of how it is he’s managed to ‘injure himself this time around’, but his teammates have been getting suspicious over time, especially his best pal and ‘brother’, Morton Duvall; and his rival, Vee-Jay Hedgehog too has her suspicions that Anandeus Zalinski is doing more than just verbally harrassing his eldest son.

Magellan takes his role as “Zorran” pretty seriously – if there’s one thing he shares the tug’s dislike of, it’s the Star Fleet!

Morton Duvall (Grey Fox - "ZEBEDEE")
Morton is Magellan’s best friend, and is very much the guy’s brother after all they’ve been through.

Morton takes the role of Zebedee, Zorran’s righthand tug, and in doing so has made the complicated role his own; taking care of Magellan’s fleet-based concerns, worries and ungrounded fears like any 2IC would to a leader. He bears Magellan’s personal criticisms well and solidly. Someone’s got to put up with the ‘domineering bastard’, don’t they?

Morton’s been around since the very early days, even before the band started. And in having known Magellan for this long, he’s become wise to all his little quirks and flaws – and knows that something else is going on. Every week or two, Magellan comes home sore as hell and won’t explain where he got his aches and pains from. Morton is growing suspicious, and often alleviates his private fears with Magellan’s rival, the Star Fleet leader Vee-Jay Hedgehog. They are both dear friends to the older harebit, and seeing him like this often makes things that much harder to deal with.

Morton comes from a farming background and still sends his paycheck home to his folks every month end or so. He cares very deeply for his teammates, but his opinion on Mathew, Magellan’s stepbrother, is one of intense hatred. Morton hates very few people in his life and to have gotten on the bad side of someone so trusting and loyal is very serious indeed…

Marcus Langley (Malamute / Timber Wolf - "ZAK")
Marcus Langley is very much the opposite side of the scale to the Z Stack he represents, Zak. Whereas Zak is ruthless and calculating, Marcus tends to be more shy and less willing to take part in a humiliating prank. That’s not to say he doesn’t like playing the occasional prank however!

Like Morton, Marcus has been with the band since the very early days – his role as the crew’s electric guitarist stemming from having been ‘discovered’ by Magellan and his mother at age ten. He’s not as close to Magellan as Morton is, but they’re best buds nonetheless. Marcus is often the other half to the songwriting duo and his ability to weave a story out of simple rhyming words has always been one of the many hearts of the DZT over time.

Marcus is watchful and protective – being part wolf and part dog, his loyalty is unquestionable. He’s got a very laid-back personality and tends to be quite the slacker, which is probably why Magellan often has to kick his rear into gear! Marcus avidly enjoys X-Treme sports when he is up and moving, and airboarding is one of his favourites.

He’s been noticing an odd change in Magellan’s behaviour of late – his friend is becoming withdrawn, less interested in running the battle of the bands than he was before. He misses the harebit he used to know – the one who always used to have to twist his arm in order to do something crazy, like surprise paintballing the DSF or something. It worries him that Magellan is hiding something of important magnitude away from the rest of them, as if he doesn’t trust them. For Marcus, his friends come first rather than the ideals of money and position that Captain Zalinski states are the founding elements of the DZT.

He is the least likely to give a turkey if something happens to him – but if something happens to one of his mates and you’re responsible, good freakin’ luck getting Marcus off your arse!

Mikael Zacharov (Hedgehog - "ZUG")
Mikael is an exchange student from Soviet Russia, a family by-product, as he calls it, of rampant decadent communism. He may not look much like a Russian boy but his thick accent speaks volumes. Ten years with the DZT and he still hasn’t managed to lose it.

Mikael is one of the younger teammates in the crew, besides Melanii and Maximillian-Michael, and as such, he usually handles acoustic guitars and keyboards. He is a talented classical instrument player on top of that, oboe and clarinet being amongst his favourites. Like the others, he’s greatly suspicious of Mathew’s intentions for the DZT and is one of the few who voices his distaste for Mathew’s presence. Being Russian and of a rather volatile temperament, Mikael tends to be more physical than verbal – something he’s had to learn to control under Magellan’s careful watch.

He’s been quite a ladies man since he’s been part of the DZT, and it’s kinda weird seeing Mikael with a trio of beautiful ladies on his arm rather than it being Magellan as the one with the femme escort! Despite this, he gets along well with his CO, and has learned, through trial and error, to control his somewhat verbal backlash tactics a lot more than he did in Mother Russia.

The one thing Mikael isn’t is Jewish – he’s a lavish spender, and sometimes having his paycheck docked is the only way to get the hell through to him! And like the others, he’s a fiercely protective friend and companion of Magellan. You don’t want this hedgehog going homicidal on you, that’s for sure…!

Maximillian-Michael Crush (Striped Squirrel / Skunk - "ZIP")
Maxmillian-Michael, or “Zip” as his crewmates call him, is a happy-go-lucky, fiesty and adventurous young man. He’s been a part of the DZT for twelve years, and as such, knows his way around the place pretty much like he owns a section of it.

Like his namesake, Maximillian does suffer from the occasional bout of shyness and nervous disposition, but mostly, he’s a very open, loyal and trusting friend. Like Marcus, he does share a love of X-Treme sports, and apart from airboarding, skyboarding tends to give this young man a thrill like no other. He’s a fantastic engineer too, being responsible for maintaining the DZT’s private jet on more than one occasion and is studying to take over from their current pilot.

Maxie, as Magellan affectionately calls him, is a pretty darn good cook too, responsible for keeping the guys well-fed on-tour when going out to a nearby restaurant involves getting mobbed by fans. He has his own share of attraction with the ladies, but keeps his personal life out of the media. He hails from a broken home – Mother a drug addict and Father an abusive drunk – and looking at him now, it’s amazing he remained the same even throughout that hell that was his family life.

He’s very chirpy of a morning and never fails to brightens the others’ spirits. He’s not so clueless as to not notice the seething hatred between his Captain and his Leader, and is often around right when Magellan needs him. He’s not blind to seeing a family deteriorate under duress, his own having done it at a crucial time for him, and so can only hope he’s around when Magellan finally decides to talk to the others in the crew.

Maximillian-Michael doesn’t have a mean streak or bone in his body. He’s a lovely, generous and thankful youngster that holds the record for the most smiles in one day.

Mickey Darnell-Smith (Echidna - "ZERON")
Mickey is one of the newer members of the DZT, and as such hasn’t been around that long to know Magellan inside out like the others do. However, he’s not blind to the niggling things, like the harebit’s consistent injuries, and is smart enough to know that the Captain is responsible for them.

He’s the representative of one of the newest Z Stacks, Zeron, Captain’s Zero’s first Ocean Tug. Like Zeron, Mickey is quiet, determined and can be misconstrued as cold and ruthless, but really, he’s a gentle giant of an echidna with a good, strong heart. He’s the crew’s drummer, and enjoys his job very much. He holds great rhythm and timing and does like the occasional cutting loose on stage – when he can get away with it, that is!

He’s the eldest and the tallest member of the DZT, standing 7”1, even higher than Magellan’s ears at their very tips (6”8), and does tend to ‘look down’ and ‘stoop’ sometimes, but hey, it’s better than walking into the door frame, isn’t it! Unlike other echidnas, he has smallish fangs which seem to add to his ‘nastiness’ at representing Zeron sometimes. Really though, he’s veritable eye candy for the various female fans that attend their concerts and partially, he secretly enjoys all the attention he gets. In reality, Mickey is very down-to-earth and tends to stay grounded amidst all the glitz and glamour.

Like Maximillian-Michael, he keeps his personal life out of the hawk-eyed media by choice. There’s no point in being part of a band without keeping some secrets away from the spotlights, isn’t there? He and Magellan are on good terms, but Mickey would like to be closer to him than just “his drummer” or just “one of the guys”. He likes Magellan and is protective of him like all the others, but is worried that the harebit isn’t letting anyone in due to the abuse he’s suffering.

Magellan truly does worry him to the point of brotherhood, and Mickey is doing whatever he can to alleviate those worries. But he is angry – not at Magellan, as the Harebit has misconstrued, but at the Captain he’s supposed to trust as the Fleet’s Manager…

Melanii Lu Ming (Giant Panda / Red Panda - "ZARIK")
Melanii hails from a very strict family whose social and familial traditions involve jobs like being a doctor, a lawyer or a therapist. Music is treated as a pasttime, a hobby rather than a full-time career, so when she announced that she intended to pursue her dreams to be a singer, there was a political uprising amongst her traditionalist family surroundings.

Melanii is the newest member of the DZT, replacing Mathew Zalinski as Captain Zero’s seventh tugboat, the switcher named Zarik and has fallen in as Magellan’s ‘little sister’ more than anything. She, in all manner of the word, has broken through the older harebit’s protective shell, drawing out the person the older DZT’ers remember from the very beginning of the band. Magellan invited her to come along for the ride after hearing her perform at an audition held to find new DZT members (which failed dismally with Mathew leading as Zorran). Melanii has been grateful to rub something in her stern parents’ faces – like a first paycheck thrice as much as her older siblings’ paychecks as doctors, lawyers and herbal therapists!

She’s been linked to rival Vee-Jay Hedgehog’s representation of the Star Tug, Ten Cents, the loyal little switcher that leads Captain Star’s fleet – she too is a girl representing a boy tug – and in some ways, Magellan has seen his rival shining there in her eyes. Melanii’s personality is caught somewhere between shy and gentle and loud and proud – she opens up a whole different ballgame out on the stage and her voice is strong and clear, yet doesn’t outshine Magellan’s. She adores her new ‘big brother’ in a similar way to how Thomas Colloute loves his big sister Vee-Jay Hedgehog – they’ve become extremely close in a very short amount of time.

Melanii’s family is huge and extends out across four continents. When Captain Zalinski was ousted as their Manager, Melanii took the boys to the Lu Ming Summer Home, Lu-Maharajah, located in Beijing, where her extended family welcomed the DZT with open arms. Melanii prides herself on being a family girl, and like Maximillian-Michael, tries to keep the fleet going even in the bad times. She’s been called a very warm, adoring and loveable girl, and it shows in many ways.

The other side to the Downunda Star Fleet are their rivals, the Downunda Zero Team. Every good underdog's got to have a villain though, right?

Magellan's life was not explained when I started the DSF/DZT relationship - he was a willing foil to Vee-Jay's arrogance and oftenmost the more "I could hit you so hard!" side of her cocky demeanour. I've since then tried to humanise these guys to a point where they're more believable - both to myself as the artist and writer and also to you, the viewer.

Magellan's unaware that the rest of the crew have become suspicious of him coming home "from a run" and limping so badly he needs to to be helped up the stairs.

Here, it looks like everything is normal, but Magellan's usually devilish grin is forced - he's not at ease with this picture being taken - his disposition has gone through the wringer. His father, Anandeus, was always a bastard and now, with the band failing repeatedly to make the impact it used to, he's taking more drastic measures against his eldest son (it's gone from mental abuse to physical abuse in a very short amount of time).

His stepbrother, Mathew, has escaped the abuse simply because he is his stepfather's "favourite son" and has been chosen to replace Magellan before long. A cause of unimaginable friction to a young man who has lost the passion for his trade.

Unfortunately, Anandeus doesn't realise the rest of the crew haven't been blinded by fame enough to not notice the change in their lead singer's behaviour. The friend they know and love as a brother is missing, and they're NOT pleased about it. But what can a crew of misfits do to get the person they know is hidden under all that abusive treatment to resurface?

Anything and everything wherever possible...

Besides my beloved DSF, the DZT, like them, have come from humble beginnings and long journeys. To me, they are a more physical representation of the fandom I'm so proud to still be a part of.

That and I'm still fleshing them out. I love fleshing and humanising my characters. It's just so much bloody fun!

THE FAMILY

Ivan Braginsky- The boss of the Russian Mafiya, feared for his mental instability and ruthless methods. He leads the family with a firm hand, having little tolerance for failure and insubordination. Seemingly cold and flat on the outside, he is severely battle-scarred on the inside. Despite possessing a frigid and threatening presence that seems to freeze the atmosphere of wherever he walks, the boss has a soft and vulnerable side to him that he shows to only a select few.

Toris Laurinaitis- The right-hand and second-in-command of the Mafiya. He's well-admired for his kind demeanor and forgiving attitude, but often looked upon as incompetent for the same reasons. Despite his age, he possesses plenty of experience on the field of battle and remains unmatched at his talent for martial-arts, though he dislikes fighting. For unknown reasons, the Boss keeps his Right-Hand off the front lines as much as possible. However, when he is seen on the field, those that are smart enough know that things are about to go down.

Natalya Alfroskaya- The cold and ruthless assassin of the Mafiya, and the best marksman in the family (aside from maybe the Boss himself). She strikes down every one of her targets with terrifying efficiency. Those who are observant enough can see that she has her eyes on the position of the right-hand, determined and perfectly capable of doing anything to achieve her goals, even if it means removing all obstacles from the picture completely. However, the current holder of the position is strangely unconcerned for his safety.

Yekaterina Braginskaya- The spy of the Mafiya, and adoptive sister of the Boss. Despite her mild dislike for the job, she is surprisingly talented at it with the help of her innocent looks and other... developments. Being the maternal-figure of the family, she expresses great concern for every member of the family, making sure none of them does something stupid under her nose. However, her protectiveness of her brother rises all above the rest, so she has zero tolerance for any harm meant towards him. I spelled her name wrong in the picture OTL

Feliks Łukasiewicz- The hitman of the Mafiya who totally hates his job to the max. Because of his extreme dislike for fighting on the front lines and getting his figure splattered with muck, he is often underestimated for his fighting skills. He's known for his initial shyness, but totally hates it when no one takes him seriously. Even though he does receive his fair share of respect for his experience and raw skill, there are rumors flying around the entire Mafiya claiming that he wants nothing more than to seize the title of the Boss and get his hands down the Right-Hand's pants, but everyone knows those are just rumors, right?

Eduard Von Bock- The overseer/briefer of the Mafiya, known for his surprising charisma and ingenuity. He's oddly protective of the family's messenger, since they are mildly-distant relatives. In addition, he seems to be the only one who is aware of his distant relation to the Mafiya's Right-Hand. Maintaining good relations with every family member (save for the Assassin, but no one is really on good terms with her, except for the boss whether he likes it or not), he is fairly admired and respected for his ability to create and execute plans with hassle-free efficiency.

Raivis Gallante- The timid messenger of the Mafiya. Even though his fighting and self-defense skills aren't on-par with the rest of the family's, he is still perfectly capable of holding his own. Despite being severely underestimated (though, sometimes overestimated in some cases), he has the amazing ability of not getting killed, even in the most seemingly-hopeless situations.

Arrrgh, I dont even know how to catagorize my Hetalia fanart anymore ;n; and I apologize for my probably-inaccurate translation of Russian.

This took a while to complete! Kudos to ~Zel3DMe for letting me borrow her tablet to finish this picture (mine is currently broken. If anyone knows how to fix it and is interested in buying it, then please drop me a note). Except for Russia, Poland, and Lithuania, this was my first time drawing any of these characters ever. I hope they're acceptable |D though I've heavily edited everyone's face and pose and what not.

Life has been fairly busy for me, and I haven't even started school yet. I'm lagging behind in my drivers ed because of my procrastination, and who knew that AP classes gave you homework over the summer :T (Okay, maybe everyone, but I didn't). I'm falling behind Lamentia as well, I seriously need to pick up the pace. Please bear with me |D

EDIT: =ryounkura created a companion piece to this, and frankly, it's effing aweseome.
