A Knight Still Standing
The air was thick with death, and the ground was the color of Hell. Flames rose from the ground like scattered flowers, and the grass that once grew lush and green upon the fields was naught but a burnt remnant of what once was. The sky was swallowed in the plumes of smoke and ash, as thunder rolled overhead, trumpeting the doom that now beset the land. Stones and rubble from the towers and parapets lay about like gravestones to mark the countless corpses of men, women, and children, who had been unable to seek shelter from the malicious evil of the heretical legion.
