Internet communities often lash out at writers who create Mary Sues. Declaring the writing to be below their standards, they proceed to punish the creators. They mock the characters, verbally abuse the writers, and write hyperbolically about how much they wish the characters would die.

Many artists struggle with their self esteem when it comes to art, especially at the beginning of their art journey. They see all those amazing works and ponder - How? How can someone be so good? I want to draw like this too! But then, they pick up a pencil and the result doesn't come as stellar as they expect it to be, which can be very disheartening. Sometimes we just want to scream in frustration when we try to be as good as artists we admire, but are unable to. And that's when many of us ask: How can I reach such a skill level?
