It is that time of year again when traveling circuses and carnivals tour around the countryside. It is the beginning of autumn on an cloudy day that may be on the verge of rain when there is a sudden chill in the air. The towns people all around the tiny community of Nightsdale wonder what could be happening to change the usual peaceful sleepiness of the town. Just when the sky darkens pink papers blow into the town from all sides. These papers, upon further examination, are advertisements for a traveling carnival.
