His band surrounded the old-fashioned hospital bed of the hospice ward, each silent. They didn't know what to say, what to do, to make things better. I mean, this was a hospice ward. Whoever comes in here...they never come out. And the empty beds in the room that only Ashley occupied, well, let's just say that last time they'd visited, they'd all been full.

The ward was homey, in a weird way. It smelt like toast and tea, and had carpets instead of the hard linoeum floor the rest of the hospital had. The sun was slipping below the soot-stained city skyline, and darkness was descending rapidly. Brendon pulled the collar of his jacket up and tilted his head down, hoping to hide the fear and uncertainty that was so plain upon his face.
How naive he was, that he thought these simple gestures could keep him safe. Really, they just made him more of a target.

Black Veil BridesBlack Veil Brides is not a stereotypical, suicidal band or whatever jerks say nowadays. The most that any member said, is that they are generally described as 'rock music'. Which- if you look at past musicians- they are. They are not posers or fakes or just out there for the attention. Yes they say that's a benefit, but they are just five guys doing what they love best. All of them have been playing music since they were young, and all of them have true talent in their own ways.
